Course Description
The
course begins at Altoona Hobbs Ice Arena then heads
south on the bike path to Lake Road where the runners turn east. The Spring Fever
courses are out and back through the wooded residential neighborhoods
that border Lake Altoona. The courses are basically flat but the
6 mile runners enjoy a nice downhill dip to the turn around
point, then they climb right back up from whence they came. No
good turn goes unpunished.

History
Lloyd Fleig and The Athletes Foot started the Spring
Fever as a 10k race in 1981 from London Square mall. They moved
it to Robbins Elementary School in 1984. The Indianhead Track Club
took over on April Fool's Day in 1989. Some time in the
mid-1990s, the registration table and the finish line moved to
Altoona City Park and the starting line was the corner of
Spooner Avenue and 10th Street. In 2005, the race moved to the city pavilion on the corner of Spooner and 10th Avenue in
Altoona,
Wisconsin. In 2011, the race began running from its new location
at the Altoona Hobbs Ice Arena.
