The annual ITC trash pickup is usually held during the 3rd week in April. We gather outside of Equity Livestock on US 53, just south of I94, and pick up trash on two miles of Cty II just to the south and west. The work normally takes about 60-90 minutes, depending on how many people show up to help. Safety vests and trash bags are provided, but you should bring your own gloves.
The late great Tim Dusick, former ITC president, started the trash pickup. He wanted to add another service element to the club's work. Eau Claire County assigned us a two-mile and hilly stretch of Cty. II south of town - very fitting for ITC. The first few years we found lots of trash along the roads - including Misty cigarette butts, Spark beverage cans, a pornographic video, and many car parts. Over the years the amount of trash has declined - from our work and hopefully from better awareness of the garbage issue. It's still a fun event to get in a good walk and some service with your ITC friends.
